Air Boss George Cline
AIR BOSS, GEORGE CLINE

George Cline is at the top of his game:
His ability, experience and personality make him the leading professional airshow Airboss in North America.

Since 1968 George Cline has safely coordinated many diverse aerial operations and events. Originally trained as a United States Air Force Air Traffic Controller, Cline has gone on to a distinguished career that includes:

- Airshow Controller at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) massive show at Oshkosh, WI.
- The 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA.
- The 1999 US Open Golf Tournament in Pinehurst, NC.
- The 1995 National Aerobatic Championships in Sherman, TX.
- The 2002 Air Venture Race and Time Trials in Manteo, NC.
- 2004 Masters Golf Tournament, Augusta, GA.
- ICAS Academy Instructor.

And 20 years as a Controller, Procedures Coordinator, and Supervisor at the Sun N' Fun Fly-In, Lakeland, FL. He was honored as their "Controller of the Year" in 1990.

George has also worked extensively with the North Carolina Dept. of Aviation providing his expertise and knowledge to coordinate their Wings Weekend Programs and their Coastal Carolina Air Tours.

Cline continues as an Air Traffic Controller and Staff Support Specialist for the FAA, is active on the FAA's Safety Council, and the National Airspace Review Team.

George recently served as the FAA liaison to the North American Air Defense Command's (NORAD) Joint Military Command deep inside its Cheyenne Mountain Facility in Colorado Springs, CO. George has taught Day 1 Ground School Training to Continental pilots in GSO, NC, had his own featured column entitled; "A-T-C Ask The Controller" in a nationally published safety magazine.

He also works the other side of the mic; he is a active private pilot and serves as a good will ambassador for aviation speaking to civic and community groups about his profession and advocation.


 
  Announcer Larry StrainANNOUNCER LARRY STRAIN

A 25 year airshow veteran, Larry Strain spent 15 years as a radio/television news anchor prior to joining American Airlines. Retired as Managing Director of AA Flight Department responsible for commercial operations, pilot hiring, administration and several other divisions.

A licensed commercial pilot, Strain holds types in jets as well as several warbirds  and has flown in over 100 air shows. Strain served in ramp operations and marshalling leadership positions with the CAF. As an air boss he has participated in shows including military bases at Oklahoma City, Omaha, Lincoln; civilian shows at the Confederate Air Force Midland, Van Nuys, Joplin, Brownsville, Tulsa  and many, many others. He has narrated literally hundreds of shows throughout the United States.

He was selected by the Air Force Chief of Staff to narrate the 50th Anniversary Golden Air Tattoo of the United States Air Force at Nellis AFB, Nevada. The largest show ever sponsored by USAF.

Involved in air show management and production for many years, he was a Director of Warbirds of America for 6yrs., Warbird Airshow Chairman at Oshkosh 5 yrs., a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society of Great Britain, ICAS Aviation Event Controller (Air Boss) development team and instructor. Teaching two courses at the International Council of Air Shows, he prepares new event controllers to handle an air show as well as teaching a second class on the requirements and preparation needed to put on an effective and safe airshow. These courses are also taught throughout the year to newly assigned FAA personnel.
